Klaire's Pigtails

Klaire does not like bows in her hair. So I tricked her today by putting her hair in pigtails, way in the back of her head.  Oh, and her shirt is wet from her attempts at brushing her teeth!

Mrs. Snowman was a good diverstion in my attempts at getting a good picture.

Oh and did I mention, this was her first time in pigtails. And for anyone who is interested they stayed in tack for close to 37 minutes, a new Klaire record for hair accessories.

Okay mom enough of this picture stuff!

Karoline is 3

Wow, I just can't believe it! Can she really be three? Our sweet Karoline is a preschooler now. My my my how time truly flies. Here is a look back of the past three years of Karoline (she calls herself Kara- pronounced Kah-uh).

But first a bit about her at three.

Sweet. Yes, she is sweet. But... she can turn on a dime! Watch out!
Caring. She sees a need, whether it be a paccy, blanket, shoe, or drink and she takes care of the need. It amazes me that a 3 year old can anticipate others' needs. A great characteristic.
Tough. She can take on her 6 year old 60lb sister and her hair pulling, toy stealing baby sister. She is tough, and lets them know it on a daily basis.

What a blessing God has given us in Karoline. May she come to know and follow Christ Jesus at a very early age.

That was a wasp sting- right on her lip!

Sisterly love

Christmas here we come!

Cards are sent, tree is up, inflatable snowman outside! I think we are getting ready.

Here is a quick overveiw of the Christmas festivites in the Mullis' world.

Christmas parade last week. It was COLD! Our church had a float in the parade and the girls- Katy and Karoline that is- just loved riding on the float. Katy was a cow and Karoline a bit of a sheep in the nativitiy themed float.

Can you find Karoline?

They both had a great time. Kris took pictures and Klaire kept warm in the van.

We have also been working on our Jesse Tree, although it is a wreath. We have been making the ornaments this year. The Jesse Tree is a great way to keep the focus of each day in December on Christ and the leading up to his birth. It is a great Christmas tradition. I will get pictures up of it soon.

More to come, so keep checking back. Also visit my blog, Prelude to Home and see our Christmas decorations inside the house.

Tea anyone?

I was going through my picture files and found these of Karoline back in the summer. She loves having tea parties, dinner parties, lunch parties, whatever suits her she is up for a party! And as always her buddies Boz and Ducky (prounounced Ucky) always are the guests of honor, although Ducky wasn't allowed any food at this particular party- I forget why.

The parade

Last week was Homecoming for Elba High School. It was also Katy's first time in a parade and boy was she ever excited! The 1st grade at Elba Elementary dressed up like 1950's kids with poodle skirts and rolled up jeans. Katy's favorite part was getting to throw candy. And even though the heat was quite "sweltering" (that was one of their vocabulary words) she did not complain a bit.

Oh, and Elba did rock the socks off Geneva 40-18!

The moon

The night of Homecoming was the same night that Karoline saw the moon for the first time. Shows we don't get out much at night! We have yet to go to a football game with the girls yet. But we go and watch from the top of the hill. For me I want to see the band! So as we were coming home from our mini football game on the hill, Karoline saw the moon. "Moon! Moon!" she yelled out from the back seat of the van.

It reminded Kris and I of Katy's first time seeing the moon. We lived in Williamson at the time and were over in Locust Grove shopping. It was getting dark and the moon was full. As we were driving home, she saw the moon from the back seat. That night, and for weeks after, Katy had to tell the moon goodnight before she went bed.

Oh, the sweet memories.

And the moon pictured above is the view that Karoline saw on Sept. 25th, 2009. Goodnight moon.

The beautiful skies of Alabama

Neither one of these pictures do them justice. But I tried to capture the sunset in Elba. It is absolutely breathtaking to see God's masterpiece in the sky.

Katy reading to Karoline

I know this is sideways, should have though about that when I taped it! Still pretty funny- watch what Karoline does. They are so sweet!

First day of school

Well, Katy has started first grade. We made the switch from homeschooling to public school this year and so far so good. She has dreamed of going to "big" school as she calls it, and after much prayer we decided that we would give it try in the small elementary school in our town. She has had a great week- didn't get her card pulled once- of course she is quick to give the list of others who did!

She has also lost some more teeth! She is officially part of the snaggle tooth club.

Ahh... The Beach

Some may think me uppity, but after spending the last few days at the beach, no ocean view, then I don't want to go! I am not that much of a beach person. I like to walk the beach and look for shells, but me and salt water just don't mix (not to mention I am a bit nervous with moving water). Kris really likes the beach, I have always preferred the mountains. But I believe I am coming around to his love of the beach. We had a great few days on our mini vacation before schools starts. Katy swam and swam. Karoline doesn't like the water, but enjoyed the sand immensely. Klaire loved it all! She giggled as the waves splashed her and was quick to walk right into the water with no fear whatsoever.

But the view! Absolutely amazing is all I can say. It makes me want to have a live worship service right on the beach with Chris Tomlin leading it! The majesty of God's creation is always around us, but when you see the beauty, power and grandeur of it right out your back door (or balcony) it makes you realize how small you really are and how enormous God is. I am ever so thankful for our little bit of beach and even more thankful for being reminded of our Awesome Creator. (And all of these picture were taken by me- this was our view.)Oh, and Kris has already booked a week next year for the same room. Needless to say we are saving our duckets and counting down the days!
